Hi guys,

I know it's been ages since I last uploaded anything, hopefully I'll be able to make videos more frequently now.

I have just received this awesome custom guitar from ViK Guitars in Belarus. For details and a full picture diary of its creation, go here: http://vikguitars.com/en-us/forum/index.php?topic=60.0

This is just me muddling around enjoying the wonderful clean tones this thing produces. I'm using the neck pickup in parallel mode for the most part, but you can hear me switch to full humbucking mode around 0:32, then back to parallel soon after.
The first part is from Andy Timmons' The Prayer/The Answer.
Amplification is courtesy of my Fractal Audio Axe-FX Ultra, running direct through Adam A7 monitors.

The camera is a Canon 7D, with sound being captured through a Rode VideoMic Pro.

There will be a metal tone test video clip coming up very soon.

Many thanks to Pete Graves for filming the footage!

  • Is parallel mode just the coil being split?

  • @ElectricTurkey1 Nope - parallel mode is where the two coils of the humbucker are wired in parallel rather than series. The result is a thin low output sound, but unlike coil-splitting it is still humbucking.

  • holy fucking jesus cupcakes! this sounds sooooooooooo good. your videos may have convinced me to order a Vik guitar. I was considering it, but after hearing your stuff with the Axe-Fx (I have one also) I think I have to get one of these! Can you possibly make another video, just like a walkthrough of the guitar and your thoughts on it? please!!?

  • @jonnybarvo Wicked, thanks. Myself and Pete are going to be filming walkthrough videos of our live rigs this weekend so I'll be sure to talk a bit about this guitar. I highly recommend ViK though, this guitar is an absolute masterpiece in every regard

  • Sounds absolutely wonderful dude. Do you mind me asking which cabling method you use when recording direct with the axe-fx?

  • @BluesGuitarHeroes Thanks, I'm use stereo XLR outs into my interface
