  • I've always liked Layne, but Jerry Cantrell made AIC. He is full of talent, and still makes AIC great. And Duvall is doing a great job too.

  • Great Song.... THis Album was Pushed aside by Critics and others. But they don't know what they are really Missing. and I kinda like it that way being part of the Minority that does enjoy something.

  • @swill5191 Layne wrote all the songs for Mad Season. but I really like DuVall and I think the new album is awesome.

  • @matt4739 5 songs on dirt that is. He a little more with each album up until the dog album which he wrote the lyrics to 9 of the 12 songs including "head creeps" where he wrote the music as well as the words. That being said, jerry did write more songs than layne, most of their big hits

  • This song is so wonderful...

  • @swill5191 sure i can, i gave a perfect example of how you can too, i cant help that you didnt accept it. i credit mcready a LOT for mad season though. he truly meshes classic blues with the rough style of the "grunge" era. hes basically the only reason i even like pearl jam. i respect a lot of cantrels music while he played with layne, it was easily the best work he'll probably ever do. but keeping the band going tossed most the respect out the window. someone said it best "layne was his muse"

  • @nashnwo1234 I agree with most of what you say, but you cant compare Cantrell to Van Halen... and when you listen to Mad Season you have to consider McCready, and the fact that in both of Layne's bands he was backed by some serious talent. I respect cantrell, but the shit he's doing now a days is a huge turn off to me.

  • aic from 87-99 is easily my favorite band to have ever existed. new aic doesnt interest me much unless the song is about layne. ive had to go back in time and start listening to a lot of older music that im way too young to have been able to experience during their era's. but theres an endless supply of music out there that can keep me from having to move into the tainted 2000's era of rock music in my lifetime. rock will turn around and be good again some day, i have hope in that.

  • though one thing you cant take away from jerry while he worked with alice in chains though, he put as much soul into his guitar work, especially his guitar solo's as layne did with his voice. jerry has a magical way of making his guitar solo's sound like another verse of the song, just w/o actual words. that is something guys like eddie van halen for example couldnt do if you put a fuckin to their heads

  • anyone questioning what layne would be w/o jerry should take a nice ganders at mad season. blows cantrels solo projects outta the water. i just wish layne lived long enough to fulfill his dream of doing a solo album of his own where he would "play all the instruments." never thought he was much of a guitarist during the early 90's but i know he had been playing the drums for years, and damn could the man create some amazing songs like "angry chair" , "hate to feel", "i dont know anything" etc

  • @hisuzyq he wrote "Love, Hate, Love", I can't remember anybore the musics he wrote...

  • layne wrote more than 5 songs but yes jerry was the major song writer. most songs they wrote together.
