agree almost entirley with yourt houghts apart from, I do not consider that Burn wrote this not as anti Jacobite message because his Jacobite sympathy is well known. This is more a warning of the futility and the terribile price paid for being Jacobite. The price paid at culloden by those who followed loyaly but also with blind faith was high.

  • wow this is amazing :D

i'd LOVE to hear that in good studio quality!

  • @strawberryseason It doesn't mention religion! Robert Burns often wrote in character. He did mnay pro-Jacobite songs but this one is anti-Jacobite. Within Scotland in the 17thC and 18thC the religious division was mainly between Protestant Prebyterians and Protestant Episcoplians. The Pretenders themselves were catholic and some catholics came out for them but the bulk of the Jacobites in all of the risings were Episcopalians. That is Scottish Anglicans.

  • Great song, and this is a solid version, but I think I like the Corries' better.

  • what is this song about? Is it anti-Catholic?

  • Great version..
