I know you're just playing D, but this is essentially a demo+medic combo camping the spawn. AKA easy as anything. Good run, but that other team was uncoordinated.

No honestly it was changed in an update. During setup it builds faster automatically without the need for damaging yourself and damaging yourself doesn't speed it up untill setup ends. You obviously have played in a while. :P
