I was always fascinated with this episode tho I only saw it once years ago on a sci-fi special

I and my highschool classmates thought this was the most terrifying episode. We talked about it for years to come.

I'm 45 now. Saw this scene when I was about 5 years old and its has haunted me ever since. ....

"We knew you could not live with aliens in your midst, as such, you have destroyed the misfits."

"You are practiced executioners, for that, we thank you."

The gag, as always, was on us.

The Zantis episode scared me and my big sister out of our minds in 1964, and our parents came home from dinner to find us wathcing the episode cowering behind the refigerator in the kitchen, trembling with abject terror! The Zantis haunt the darker corners of our nightmares! "We are from Zzzzzzaanti", 'lans trinsini lans ob' "Total destrction to anyone who invades our privacy". Some scary-stuff, for TV. THE OUTER LIMITS!

Damn pesky bugs. One of the better episodes of the series, and it was a kick to see a young Bruce Dern. I wish the new series would have taken some of the early episodes, like this one. With current CG, it could have been even more scary.

The writers and director were disappointed due to their very limited budget and had envisioned much more terrifying and loathsome creatures. They did the best they could but thought the ants looked silly. Scared the living hell.out of me when I was boy though. And that weird buzzing sound was nightmarish.
