@TheMimzy12 What you learned from Dragon Door is the correct way to do it from certified kettlebell instructors. This guy doesn't know what he's doing yet will claim that others butcher the technique in the gym.
...keep in mind is that ballistic movements can be smooth and not jarring. Often the jarring is actually wasted energy sent into your joints and bones instead of into the movement. It's kind of like how major league players never feel it when they hit a homer. The energy isn't absorbed into the bat and hands, it all goes to the ball. This making it a hugely powerful, smooth experience for the batter.
Just like any variation of the swing you might get into, it all starts w/ the hips. In this case it starts & ends w/ the hips. I'm not a very dramatic lifter, so there's not much in the way of that staccato kind of movement people assoc. w/ ballistic movement. To get that bell up overhead, I have to shoot those hips forward as hard as I can. What looks like shoulders pulling the bell is actually my PUSHING my chest and head through at the top. Hey there I just completed a Hard Style Kettlebell Training Course with Dragon Door. Your Hard Style Swing in nothing like I lerned. Where is the power and balastic movment, it looks lke you are using your shoulders at the end of your movement.
