@Francozilla Kevin Johnson proved near the end of his career, but he arguably constituted the second best guard in the NBA that year behind Michael Jordan
... but he and KIdd combined to form a tremendous duo regardless.
@ChandlerPol The Chapman-Allen comparison is accurate, the only thing I would dispute is that Allen had more of an off the bounce game than Chapman did. Chapman and Schrempf in this series reminds me a lot of how Allen looked in the Sonics-Kings series in '05, when Stojakovic and Bobby Jackson had to guard him. The 2 defenders were just too slow.
@ChandlerPol That's another reason why Chapman did so well. Playing off of Jason Kidd and Kevin Johnson. They created driving lanes and with them helping, Chapman had open looks. Not to mention that Schrempf didn't have the speed to keep up with Chapman, like you mentioned.
@clutchcity25 I'd compare Chapman to Ray Allen, except not on the Hall of Fame level. Chapman wasn't as consistent of a shooter, but like Allen, he was a pure athlete with incredible shooting skill, only Chpaman could make ridiculous shots unlike anyone else. And in this series, the Suns manipulated the biggest mismatch in their favor, with Schrempf struggling to chase Chapman around.
@clutchcity25 Granted, the playoffs largely hinge upon the extent to which supplementary players make opposing defenses pay for the focus that they devote to stars; think of John Paxson in the fourth quarter of Game Five of the 1991 NBA Finals in Los Angeles. Of course, Chapman constituted a much better athlete and player than Paxson.

@kasmeria They came so close to pulling the upset, though, thanks largely to Chapman.
