Personal data lockers, linked data, semantic understanding, and intelligent agents will form an ecosystem where applications, leveraging a rich understanding of the relationships between different themes and concepts, will know how to access, manage, and act on the items in your data locker to present relevant content and services.

You will be able to configure who gets access to your locker and in what context, depending on your role, intent, and location. This ecosystem will enable businesses to offer customers more relevant, convenient, and useful content and experiences. Your personal data locker will hold your dynamic persona, including preferences, affinities, purchases, travel destinations, social graphs, and much more.

However, there are many questions to ask: What will it mean for your life in terms of better services, greater productivity, and cheaper goods? Who is going to give you the data locker - a bank, a mobile operator, Facebook, a new start-up? Will you have one locker for everything or a series of linked lockers containing different data for different uses?

Recorded at the SemTech 2010 conference, this session explored the current opportunities and issues surrounding the advent of the personal data locker including: consumer privacy and control, semantic understanding, and a holistic view of the consumer for enterprises. A prominent panel moderated by David Siegel, author of Pull, joined David Boardman -- Atigeo, Chris Messina - Open Web Advocate at Google, Drummond Reed - Executive Director of the Information Card Foundation and the Open Identity Exchange, Marc Davis -- Invention Arts, and Phil Wolff -- DataPortability.org
