was a Hungarian violinist, teacher, cnductor and composer.

Wow, I thought I'd never get to hear Auer.. Didn't know any recordings existed.. He was taught by the best and is indirectly the teacher of all today's virtuosos

Wonderful to hear a recording of Auer, but I think as far as this recording is concerened, technical virtuosity 1, musical taste 0.
Compare this to Joachim's 1903 recording.
Fantastic violinist. Auer´s great grand doughter were Ilya Gringolt´s violin teacher at the St. Petersburg Special Music School.
