The Lil' Phantom at Kennywood- POV from Physics Project

READ THIS FIRST. This video was filmed with permission from park management. DO NOT FILM ON ANY OF KENNYWOOD'S RIDES WITHOUT PERMISSION. DO NOT SNEAK CAMERAS ONTO RIDES! On September 20, 2008, thanks to already having a ride op job at Kennywood, I was given permission to perform a physics project using Kiddieland's Lil' Phantom coaster. The aim was to figure out if different seating patterns affected the speed of the ride (i.e. having the front two seats occupied and the rest empty vs first and third, first and fourth etc. for every possible two-seat combo). My result obviously was that the speed was not affected, but given my love of the park I knew I had to include it in my project somehow. Sadly (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), we never did complete the project in class, so my work ended up not being needed. I was given permission, however to film on the ride, allowing for this POV of the coaster. That's me operating the ride on the right, while my father, one of my volunteer riders, is standing on the left taking a break between rides. My other two volunteer riders do not appear in this video (as they're sitting further back in the train!) but my mother, who filmed video and took pictures of the experiment, rode along with the camera (which was on a tripod) to keep it steady. The coaster, added to the park in 1996, underwent a major renovation for the 2007 season. Usually, the riders are allowed to make two runs around the track. I was surprised to discover that the camera was only recording for the first one.

Quick tip: if you DO decide to sneak a camera on, make sure you dont take it on rides with an on-ride photo. I made that mistake xD

@xOx29mjmj94xOx Another tip: If you decide to sneak a camera on, employees WILL catch you and take actions whatever ride you do it on. Hence the rule: DON'T DO IT.

im 13 can i still ride this ride? and my sister just turned one in march can she ride ANY rides?

This ride does not have a maximum height restriction, so ride away! As for your sister, she must be able to walk on her own to ride. She must be accompanied by an adult until she's 36" tall.

BEST FUCKIN RIDE EVER! :D I got such good memories on this ride....... One time, a staff member wanted to ride it, but nobody would let him sit with them, I let him, and at the end, he gave a me a big chocolate chip cookie :D

lol at cedar point my friend and i were front car on the millenium, he had his ipod out and was going to video it, but couldnt hold it well enough with the case he had, and by the time he figured he wanted to put it away, we were at the top so he just said craaaaaaaaaaap and shoved it down his pants hahaha
