Can't remember the exact details but for some reason Freddie Green refused to play the gig but nothing to do with George playing guitar, completely different players, Freddie was a rhythm guitarist.. Tony Bennett and Joe Williams also performed.

Good to finally see the Ibanez GB-20 in action!

@NicholasFruneaux You would do well to sit down with a couple Basie records to try and truly understand what he was about. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Benson. But this performance was a Capitally-motivated one, and artistically, the two players don't compliment each other. IMO (In my Opinion). You'd probably also do well not not call a complete stranger crazy...

Wow! Kicking ass and taking names ---GB is one of the greatest git men on the planet ----unbelievable talent--he plays so down to earth and bluesy--I just love him and wish I was him!

@awfulguitarplucker I beg to differ. Any music is for any person. I personally think Basie would abhor the idea that his music 'is not for' a certain group of people. Hell, if a Bieber fan likes the sound of this music, all strength to them, they have a very broad range of musical taste. I think it's great that people into the more popular musical styles of this day and age can appreciate teh mastery of musicians such as Basie.

You're crazy, Benson is doing great and it fits nicely. Saying that is insulting Basie's taste. If it's good enough for Basie it's good enough for me.
-
honestly. this would be better without benson. he's in the way of basie. both great players, but IMO this is a poor matchup

insane swinging here
