  • @KINdruchila

I'm looking for somebody who would translate it for me :)

  • @magauchsein

I'm currently learning the language, so I can give you the basics of Sarah's explanation of greetings. I couldn't figure out two parts, though, since my Afrikaans still isn't all that great. I'll check with a friend and see if I can get the whole thing translated :). Here's what I could understand.

This would be great :) I could send your transcription and translation to Sarah asking her for the last correction. I don't think she would have time to transcript it by her own but it would be easy for her to correct your transcription.

If you greet someone in Afrikaans, you say "hoe gaan dit (how are you/lit. how is it going)," and if you want to use slang, and you're with colleagues or a friend in a club or so, we say "hoezit (how's it)." "Hoezit"... it's how young people actually greet one another. And if you're greeting an important person, you must greet them out of respect, "hoe gaan dit met u (how is it going with you)," "Gaan dit goed met u (Is it going well with you?)."
