Yep. Vey true and sad he was not giving his props for that. What people dont understand is he had a big advantage because of his history and relationships with college coaches at Stanford and others. He was hiring coaches who he had previously worked in college and other people he admired. You really dont know the history of football until you learn how Walsh changed the game of football in so many ways! He turned it to a physical chess match, and his philosophy still lives.

Bill Walsh was also hiring minority coaches years before the rooney rule was even thought of. Shame on the nfl for not recognizing this during his passing. The nfl wanted to coin the "rooney rule" like it is some great shit, walsh was doing the "rooney rule" 14 years earlier with his actions! Look it up with the rosters compared to others during that span!
