Der Unterschied zwischen niederländisch und deutsch ist für die wohl wie für uns der Unterschied zwischen Han und Wu. Man weiß es, wenn man sich damit beschäftigt, aber warum sollte man es tun? Zudem ist niederländisch eigentlich eine Art Slang des niederdeutschen, aber auch wenn es eigene Form angenommen hat.

@organizewithchaos I am an american living in germany as an exchange student, and trust me, I personally can tell the difference. but you guys are right that other americans don't know the difference, simply because they don't care to learn it.

@Nelclaud21 Idc how many times you have been there. I believe hundreds of historians more than you, lol. Dutch = a Germanic Language, fact. Dutch = was long time ago part of germania, fact. Dutch = very very old German, fact. After the germania split up, germany invented high german, and netherlands just kept the old language, fact.

Dutch (Nederlands) is what we speak over here in The Netherlands & Belgium. German is called Deutsch in German. \most English speakers, and definitely most Americans don't understand that subtle difference.
