  • Do you boot through a virtual environment? I can't get my wireless network card to work properly with BackTrack 4 on my MacBook Pro. Any suggestions?

  • @oskiflesh Hi. No i was not booting through a virtual machine. The video was made using a MacBook (not Pro) using an old version of BackTrack. Now you can find a more updated release of the distribution. Are you using the newest one? Maybe the wifi card on your mbook pro has another interface name? What's your problem?

  • @MrTechsecrets I'm on a MacBook Pro early 2009 and BackTrack 4 r2 through Parallels Desktop. It's working with USB-network cards though!

  • @oskiflesh I don't honestly know if it is working under a virtual machine. I know that there are problems if you want to use backtrack under VMWare Virtual Machine (under Windows) because the wifi card is not "linked" with the virtual machine for some reason and so you can't use it with the aircrack suite.. Maybe there is the same problem with a VMachine under Mac OS X, but I'm not sure.. :( Use the USB card if it works!

  • HI, i was just wondering. Does the dictionary file need to be in a certain directory, or is it fine as long as its somewhere on your macbook. Thanks.

  • @u9refion1 The dictionary file can be in any directory. the only thing you need to do is to specify the path of the dictionary and it works!

  • Also. What is filename? and also how do you find bssid of client already connected

  • @MrTechsecrets 1. Any directory on the macbook? or any directory inside bt4. 2. What wireless adapter do you use?

  • @MrTechsecrets Yeah, I've read in the BackTrack wiki that integrated wireless network cards don't work in virtual environments.
