When Everything Fails A Violent Death, The Smile You Gave.

This is my BOW (body of work) Visual Arts entry for the Australian HSC 2008.

From concept to completion it took me approximately 8 months. That included location, props and storyboard aswell as chasing up the copyrights for audio and visual. I worked alone, only with assistance for filming. I also made from scratch an authentic looking Marine Corpsman helmet .


My concept came from John "Doc" Bradley, a US Corpsman who took part in the Battle of Iwo Jima in WWII. I explored the idea of the relationship of a soldier and those left behind and how war affects the people involved and those left behind aswell as their relationships.
