The Gubernatorial Debate held on October 25, 2010 at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, Connecticut with Dan Malloy (D) and Tom Foley (R) was a heated discussion between the two accomplished men seeking the head office of the state. Mr. Foley and Mr. Malloy both peppered their allotted time to answer the questions by moderator executive editor Jonathan Kellogg from the Waterbury Republican American, with questions shot back at one another in response to their remarks before moving on. Mr. Foley asked Mr. Malloy repeatedly to please explain to the voters whose taxes he was going to raise and by how much, and Mr. Malloy brought up the belabored issue of the Bibb Factory in Georgia that Mr. Foley was brought in to save but failed after his departure. Mr. Foley gave many examples of how Mr. Malloy failed in his 14 years of serving as Mayor of Stamford. Mr. Malloy quipped if Stamford was such a failing city why did Mr. Foley choose to put his business there? Mr. Foley said he has never had his business in the city of Stamford. They also addressed questions about the state's education system, state workers, cutting spending, brownfield development and leadership skills. In closing statements, Mr. Malloy felt his being Governor would allow him to work with the legislature, which has a large democrat majority, and get things done. Mr. Foley believes his being the next Governor with Republican gains in the House and Senate would allow them to finally put more balance in the general assembly and stop the heedless taxing and spending the democrat majority has done for decades. Mr. Foley also has vowed to not raise taxes and will not take a salary.
