In May 2010 Paul Gill Walked the full lenght of Ireland from Mizen Head to Malin head to raise awarness of the new Irish Blasphemy law a fine of €25k.
This is day 8-9 after 130 miles walked.
Paul talked with members of the public (Christian and Atheists) about their opinions of the law.

Paul would like to thank those that talked with him and for the support shown.
----
The Bill became Law on 23 July 2009, and came into effect on 1 January 2010.
The advocacy group Atheist Ireland responded by announcing the formation of the "Church of Dermotology". On the date on which the law came into effect, Atheist Ireland published a series of potentially blasphemous quotations on its website and vowed to challenge any resulting legal action. It also said that it would be holding a series of public meetings to launch a campaign for secular constitutional reform.

  • 21 century and we are debating whether or not to have a blasphemy law? fuck humans, we have to be the most ignorant goddamn species on the planet

  • Modern societies are built on people being able to openly express their views, even controversial views or minority opinions. If mainstay views like religion need laws to protect them from being openly discussed, it shows the views are flimsy.

I thought Ireland had become a modern, intelligent country, but if they are putting archaic ideas like blasphemy into their actual laws, well then in that area they are going backwards towards the bronze age. Hey, Ireland... What's up with that?

  • @blazereef - Unfortunately there are people that succumb to fairy tales in old books, written in the bronze age, and think they are valid today. When religion is put on a shelf with the rest of mythology, we will all be better off.

  • Blasphemy is a victimless crime.

  • @4:42 great mix!

  • @blazereef c'mon man, did you hear the Pogues there!?!?

  • Who he was... or whom wrote who he was. The patron leader god of the Christians. Bit strange, that vatican you mean... losing money? Dare I say spending too much gold to keep the people of various nations in check? I've seen the patterns, at least in the U.S., Florida. Faiths, for-profit, faiths are eating one another. Kind of like how corporations do. Greydon Square & Canibus are couple great blasphemers! Now how tight are Italy and Iran; compared to Italy n' Ire'lan? Hrrmmm...

  • Great video! Lots of work went into that, no doubt. It's funny that Hugh, the one 'committed Christian' found it so difficult to commit to an opinion. I'd say that it would delight the Irish government to manage a nation of such individuals, unwilling to make the effort even to ask questions of the laws of the land.
