I love this number, its hilarious and really witty, a great party piece (thats if anyone would put up with it)

@NJMerlin Noel Coward and Cole Porter were good friends, and they were used to spoof each other

There's a bit more to it. The song "Begin the beguine" is from the Cole Porter 1935 show "Jubilee", and one of the characters in that show is an obvious parody of Coward.

My Aunt Nina hated this song...........although she knew Noel well back in the 1950's, and he sang it to her once at the Cafe De Paris! She is still with us, though dementia has robbed her of all memories of such meetings. I still thank her for introducing me to the music of Noel though, a great gift.

I first heard Bobby Short do this song in New York ages ago. Always loved it.

Does anybody understand the Cole Porter joke? Because I don't.
My name is Nina and I am from Argentina!
The only difference is that I do not have a problem with Cole Porter.. we're cool

@rodahcucse She cursed Cole Porter because he wrote "Begin the Beguine," which is the dance everyone keeps asking Nina to do.
