The 1990 song "Cherry Pie" by the band Warrant is an obvious rip-off of "Never Let Me Go" by Winter Rose, a less popular 80's glam metal band that put out one album in '87. The band was formed by Sebastian Bach, but he was replaced by James Labrie, who later became the singer for Dream Theater.

I'm not saying I don't like "Cherry Pie." In fact, I love the song! I just though I would point out that the song which made Warrant famous was actually completely ripped-off from a virtually unknown band!

  • jesus glam is so fucktarded

  • And why is that? Do you not like actual singing and true musicianship?

  • nope if thats wat u call true musicianship i dont see the big deal dudes wearing lipstick doing songs about sex and shit its an overplayed field

  • Yes, I do call it true musicianship. The musicians are actually damn good.

It's not about the make-up, or even the lyrical content. it's about the music. And there are a ton of glam bands who write damn good music. And this band, Winter Rose, their singer was James Labrie, who went on to sing for Dream Theater. You can't deny that he is a badass singer. Some of the best rock singers of all time came from the glam era.

  • And what do you listen to? Trivium? Thats whats on your favorites. You can't call them original.

  • i dont care if they arent original i like it i just dont get the hype of 80s glam metal thast all im saying and yes i do know that trivium have some glamm influences in their songs but thats wat i like bout them they mix they dont stick to metalcore or thrash

  • That's fine. You don't have to get it. Just don't talk down about it, because it's actually talented musicians playing real music. Unlike half the bands out today... I have no problem with Trivium. I used to love them, until I got into good music. Now I just can't find myself listening to them that often...

  • wow they took the intro scream idea big fucking deal holy shit lol the guitar riffs might even have the same notes I don't give a shit they don't sound similar at all and the rest of the song doesn't match for shit. Although I've heard this song or band, pretty cool.

  • dang you think that's bad does anyone remember that glam band Danger Danger? i don't know how many guitar riff's they ripped off of Van Halen!!! it was pretty pathetic!!

  • both are great tunes and slightly different lyricist styles, but yeah cherry pie probably came from that

  • man, you cant say that its rip off, its just 2 songs sounds alike, many glam bands used similar riffs, chord progressions and song structures

  • meh good for you then
