This is a demo of the stock pickups of a Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom compared with a Lundgren 7.3 KOhm telecaster vintage bridge pickup and a Dimarzio Twang King neck pickup. See links below for details.

The amp used was a Blackstar HT-1R combo hooked up to a 2x12 open back cab with Celestion Vintage 30's. I also used a T-rex Compnova compressor and a bit of the on board digital reverb of the amp.

  • I just got one for my B. Day, I have Strats, but simply love this Telecaster, why would anyone spend more?

  • @MrPoppa2 Happy birthday! :)

  • What effects are you using? ive been searching for the perfect blues tone, and i was wondering if you would mind telling me what Amp and pedals you are using. thanks

  • @skyhawk0005 Hi! In this clip it's just a bit of compression, from a T-rex CompNova pedal. Other than that, straight to amp and some reverb from the amp. The amp is a Blackstar HT-1R with a 2x12 Celestion vintage 30 loaded cab.

  • Damn, I had a huge doubt between this Custom and the 50's. I didn't get the chance to play it before buying (friend brought from USA), so I ended getting the 50's.

Now I really regret buying it, the Custom sounds much more twangy, which is exacly what I was looking for. The 50's is indeed a great guitar, but it sounds a little empty, dunno, I feel like its because of it's body, which is made of pine.

  • @seusfdp What a shame you're not entirely happy with it... It might be the pine, it's a soft wood. I'd imagine ash or even alder to have more of that distinctive sound that telecasters are renowned for, but am not sure. Pine was used for some early telecasters though, I hear...

  • I love that guitar...just got one...with the money I saved instead of buying a Mexican Made Telecaster....I bought a VOX VT30 AMP....they sound great together.....best deal on a guitar

  • raise the pickups, might help get more of a twangy sound.....

  • @noakwesterberg Yeah, the softness of the wood is very apparent in the tone, but I've seen a guy saying that he bought one and it was too heavy, so he asked the store to change it for the lightest one they had. He said that the new one, compared to the first, felt pale and lifeless, which seems to be my case. Maybe it was just bad luck.

  • @BigfootPreston Thanks! I'd get one. Hell, they might even be worth something some day, just like the early MIJ Squiers are today :) Maybe you'll even end up with the conclusion that you don't need a 52' reissue?
