I imported my 1925 Ford Model T from the USA, not far from Detroit, Michigan where it was built.
In this video I demonstrate the T's unusual controls and how they all work, I show you how to start a Model T, and I take you on a short drive at the end.

The Model T was manufactured between 1908 and 1927, and was know by various names including Tin Lizzie, Flivver, T‑Model Ford, or just 'T'.

The Model T set 1908 as the historic year that the automobile became popular. It is generally regarded as the first affordable automobile, the car that opened travel to the common middle-class American; some of this was because of Ford's innovations, including assembly line production instead of individual hand crafting.

On May 26, 1927, Henry Ford watched the 15 millionth Model T Ford roll off the assembly line at his factory in Highland Park, Michigan.

  • ...by the way, I guess this car doesn't have an alternator charging the battery? That's why it's important to switch to magneto?

  • @Toerme The Model T has a generator, not an alternator. It will actually drive quite happily on battery, but the battery will last longer if it's not used as much. Also, early generators were nowhere near as good as modern alternators. I also prefer running on magneto as it delivers a bit more power than the battery.

  • Have you seen the video titled "Ford Model T Half engine"? I believe it is in Australia as well.

  • @browncarp Yes I've seen that video, its pretty good actually :)

    And yes, it's Australian too.

  • Actually, some Model T's were built in Highland Park, MI.

  • @vcp430 Thats correct - Highland Park is a suburb of Detroit.

  • Informative and really interesting :D

  • i will tell ya this much..that is so much more complicated than a regular stick shift ha ha ha

  • @MUSICALGUNNUT45 ... That would be pushing the car to it's absolute limits... I've been up to approx 60km/h, (about 37mph), but not for too long - gotta give people time to admire the car ;)

  • @LadyTilika about 45 mph under the right conditions I think.
