Blind Melon's "Change" (cover)

My acoustic cover of "change".

I recorded this on my MAC in garageband, layering harmonica, bass, guitar and lead. It is an instrumental version because it just wouldn't seem right to even try to sing it, and in a way the absence of vocals IS the tribute.

I liked Blind Melon and have a sentimental attachment to them.

Lead singer Shannon Hoon died, on the street,outside of the New Orleans restaurant I inside working as the Chef.


They were taping next door, that night,at Tipitina's. Shannon died on the tour bus.

On you tube- I saw their version of Change on the Letterman show, which they performed the day Curt Cobain died.

Hoon was visibly upset and had painted a question mark on his head, questioning why Cobain was gone.

Only Months later he was dead.

Life is strange, and it goes by fast.

shannon himself would like it, only other people i'd put up there with him are Kurt Cobain, Bob Marley and Bradley Nowell, just shows how good we used to have it.

This was a beautiful tribute. This song means a lot to me, I have it tattooed on me. Its a shame Shannon died, he wrote the most beautiful music. I'm sorry you had to experience his death first hand, it must've been hard.
