@grandsjoem She just turned 5 and she still signs. She now has a little brother and she loves teaching him. She still likes to learn new signs and is now putting sentences together in sign language

@Tesseliene thanks :) That's nice of you to say! i am with you, I didn't know what an avocado was until I was in my 20s LOL. Now they say it's good to give to babies because of the good fats in it :)

@SmartHandsCA Ah, right :-) I was just wondering, because I only learned the word for avocado when I was like ehhh.. 16 (now 22) ;-) Your daughter seems like a very smart little girl, I love the way you interact with your kids! Such an inspiration.

@Tesseliene avocado is her favorite food. I just taught her things that were useful to her. :)
Do you think you should stop baby sign once they start talking or continue untill there fluent and then just keep using it? If the parents arent fluent themself, maybe learn it as a family together?

@gigi1bokus I would encourage everyone to keep learning! It's a great second language to learn. It really helped my daughter learn to read (when we taught her the ASL alphabet)

Can i ask, do you teach her asl or see? And what are you thoughts on wich you should teach your baby for baby sign language? ( I dont have one i am just wondering theoretically). Also with your own daughter do you start to notice if you are teaching her too many words if she starts to forget old ones, because i find it fascinating that babies not only learn the sign but retain that knowledge (like a little mini photographic memory).

@gigi1bokus when parents teach babies they tend to use the SEE structure simply because they are putting one sign to one English word. I do encourage parents to use ASL signs vs SEE signs if they are different. Then when children become older you can being to introduce ASL sentence structure.

at what age can a baby learn?
TOUSSAINTCRAMER 1 month ago
@TOUSSAINTCRAMER Any age really. Some people start at 4 months and others wait until later. Anytime is great!
