PC gameplay of Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Not really a montage, but I decided to throw some action in :P

System specs at the time:
e8400 Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.0ghz (stock)
EVGA GTX 260 - 896mb ddr3
Asus P5Q motherboard
4GB ddr2 G.Skill @ 1066mhz
WD 640 hdd
Windows Vista 64-bit
Resolution: 1920x1080

Recording with Fraps totally destroys the framerate in game... although the video appears to be smoother.
FPS with Fraps: 20-25 (max) Video? Maybe 30fps
FPS without Fraps: 35-55 (35-40avg)

  • What's the average framerate you get with the processor? I have a GTX 460 and an E8400 clocked at 3.75GHz, and i get 35fps average, with GPU usage sitting at 25%.. I'm pissed.

  • @GameMaximum man, lately it's been messed up. I dusted out my tower to get it to run a bit smoother. Running fraps with the game (just to tell me fps, no more recording) it says I get 35 - 40. Or I get about 60 IF i face AWAY from all the action (turned around and all) :(

Our processors suck for today's games... Amazingly I did decent enough while recording this vid, but I can't wait for a new build ><

  • have you on this video same settings like at your old cpu ? all max and 16x AA or what ever ??

and if you put that off how many fps do you have with your cpu ?

i have ahlon II x2 250 2x 3GHz its not strong as yours but i thing 2x AA or 1x should run the game well...

  • @monstero111 I think on this video, I used 4x. Using 16x doesn't drop it too much more, but there is a difference. On my last vid, with the e5200, I kinda put it thru hell with settings on max. You can tell by how laggy the old one was. Game runs fine now, even while recording, and a fresh restart of the computer helps too.

  • nice nades man

  • @Licardo7 haha, thanks! :)

  • Not bad! Check my channel. With a better video card you could have double performance! :P

  • @sicorange3 Really? Becuase my E8400 clocked and a Ati radeon 4850 plays Bf3 @ 50 fps. And I play this game at around 50-60. I also play Arma 2, which is amazingly CPU intensive, at around 40fps. And they consider 20-30 fps on that game to be good. @ very hgih settings.

  • @Mecha120 I got a quad core recently (a Q8400) and holy shit, BC2 and BF3 run smooth as butter.

  • @GameMaximum FYI, BC2 (and bf3 obviously) is EXTREMELY cpu intensive. with BC2, one core alone would be dedicated to handling all the audio thats processed. this basically puts anything short of a quad core processor to its knees if trying to run the game on high settings.

  • @HD4VBE huge bottleneck both of those CPU, get an whole new motherboard, ram and cpu! get the AMD Phenom II X4 975 with an good AMD AM3 socket motherboard with cheap ram :)

  • get the Q9550 to that motherboard instead :) it is still for sale!

  • I'm thinking of getting this card how do you think this game will run with 4GB RAM and Intel Pentium D 950 (3.4GHz x2) or AMD Athlon X2 3800+ (2.0GHz x2)?

  • Im getting 40-80fps @ all maxed, full hd resolutions with E8400 3.6Ghz, 4 gigs 800Mhz DDR2 and HD6850pcs+. The game plays very smoothly :-)

  • @sicorange3 Yeah, I heard the latest patch ruined performance quite a bit, but and E8400 is a great processor, in line with some quad cores, even better because you can overclock the shit out of it. I did a fresh windows install, got a few fps up, but it's still unacceptably low, just about the same as you. I mean, 20% GPU usage? We should hammer the BC2 forums asking for a fix.. Especially because it lags for no apparent reason now.
