Planes Landing On Autobahn NATO Exercise "Highway 84" West Germany 1984

At Hahn AB, other wing personnel participated in a NATO exercise. During this exercise, two 496th TFS F-16s conducted the first emergency procedures landings on an autobahn. The aircrews landed, refueled from dispatched trucks and launched from a highway near the German air base at Ahlhorn.

The wing also prepared for a large-scale deployment to several air bases due to programmed runway repairs at Hahn AB. Aircraft and crews, maintenance specialists and support personnel deployed to Ramstein and Spangdahlem ABs and to West Germany's Pferdsfel AB from April to June 1984.

Autobahn Landings

autobahn landing: segments of high speed freeway system in west germany were recently connected to emergency airstrips. Clip shows landings & takeoffs on new strip in simulated emergency situations. Shows portable facilities, i.E. Control tower, fire & ambulance service, refueling & radar equipment.

@TheVWPaddy Inkorrekt! Das ist der NLP der A29 in Niedersachsen. Dreieck Ahlhorner Heide - Wilhelmshaven!

NLP wurden erst im kalten Krieg angelegt. All die NLP's wurden restlos zurückgebaut.

@TheVWPaddy Ist genau Brücke Mühlenweg die im Bild ist,und gefilmt wird Richtung Hamburg näste Ausfahrt ist Owschlag.Wenn man Owschlag richtung Dänemark fährt,also rauf auf die Autobahn dann nach 400m kommt die landebahn.Das ist bei Alt Duvenstedt und Borgstedt in der nähe.

That is in Germany,Autobahn A7. Das ist in Deutschland Autobahn A7 Neumünster Richtung Kiel.Das haben sie früher gebaut als Not landebahn in Hitler´s Zeiten.Gibt es Heute noch.Man muß nur die mittel leitplancken endfernen.Sehe ich jeden Tag die landebahn.100% ...Das ist alles noch da für den Notfall.Genau so wie die kleine Pinau brücke vor der Stadt Bilsen auf der Kielerstr richtung Kiel,da ist eine Spreng Brücke die im Notfall gespregt werden kann extra beschrieftet.
