Don't blame religion. People fight wars, with or without religion.

  • @Venom0ZA finally realise my point then....or do you. probably not from your condescending tone.

  • @blackbeltste "The Royal Marines have an illustrious history, and since their creation in 1942 Royal Marines Commandos have engaged on active operations..." Now the Royal Marines were from 1600's but they were not Commando and they were ocean-bearing only. Around 1942 they only started land operations like Commando would. So half right but still too late.

Trust me, the only other Commando before the Boers were the Romans and Spanish amongst others! Someone may know others. :)

  • @Venom0ZA Quite...

except the royal marine COMMANDOS have been around since 1664.

    MORON.

  • @blackbeltste Looks like someone didn't like the truth, pitty. It's out there in the world and known by Military Historians as fact. Now because a snot nose says they weren't 'uber cool' looking and before WW2 that they nothing like modern Commando? All modern commando stem from Boer Commando tactics, and Boer Commando stem from previous elite formations. It's History you can't change it. The Boers performed Recon and sabotage including ambushes and being sharp shooters, COMMANDO!

  • @Venom0ZA If that is how you define "commando" then I guess the term is probably about 5000 years old. You moron. commando's, as we know them, were formed during WWII to act out raids on the nazis.

if you define it as being and small military unit, or base it on the etymology of the word, then you can practically say any military unit ever created is a commando unit. which is of course wrong.

  • @blackbeltste Commando - "The term is Portuguese and first came to world attention when adopted by the Boers of South Africa around 1900. The Boers formed "Commandos" among themselves to pursue native African cattle-raiders."

"The British (who did not have 'Commando' formations in World War I), revived the term in 1940 during World War II..."

Wow, what do you know! I suppose I was not wrong afterall :)

  • @Venom0ZA As John Matrix would say..."WRONG".

Commandos "as we know them" were born of WWII. British all the way.

  • hey im cristain but still i hate terrorist

  • Hmmm, "Born of desperation...Commandos..."

Sounds like the narrator is saying Commando's were first heard of or created in WW2?

Last time checked the Boers in South Africa formed the first Commandos as we know it today.

Just some general knowledge trivia for you :)
