  • everything is God. So satan is God too? The crack dealer is God? Not

  • @robertorgan Of course the crack dealer is not God. But God is the giver of whatever good is in the crack dealer: existence, human nature, possibility of becoming a new creation. The evil (drug dealing...) is the privation of good and so of God. But God is still there, and the crack dealer cannot exist apart from God.

  • St Maximus was also known as the most brilliant man who ever lived..his life's work was devoted to interpreting St Dionysius the Areopagite. He was a true Seer of the Holy Trinity and Saint of theChurch. You should contact him Thomas,He would tell you to leave hinduism behind.Hinduism is an evil and demonic religion. The Orthodox Church is the True Church,is a spiritual hospital and is the Church founded by Christ the Incarnate God. Try the Jesus prayer with a kombuschini instead. Leave yoga.

  • I left Hinduism behind when God's grace made me a Roman Catholic. The Orthodox Church shows itself to be a "True Church" when it shares communion in one chalice with the successor of Saint Peter and the other Apostles. Saint Maximus lived in Rome and was in communion with the pope at that time. You say that your church is a hospital. I pray that it will become "a house of prayer for all people," as the Incarnate God said.

For your information, yoga is not necessarily "hindu"; it is human.

  • @thomasmatus forgive me for interjecting. Loved your thoughts on St M. I'm wondering: "What is a human"? Isn't Yoga aiming for such a level of mastery of body that it can somehow be transcended/escaped? Is this in line with the (non-Christian) Platonic notion of matter being evil - body being some kind of prison in which our eternal divine essence is trapped? Isn't the whole of creation *good* ? Body too? Forgive my ignorance as a curious scientist, not an expert on Asian cultures.

  • @thomasmatus This exchange between you and samthed is revealing.

  • interesting

  • Dear Father Thomas:

Your excellent reading with commentary of Maximus expands the spirit and knowing the fullness available through Grace: My reaction and thought after hearing the first of your readings.

What a unique, new idea for me, Ten Commandments as entry to Trinity.

I do enjoy your sincerity with its exclamatory way of encouraging the viewer to enter into the text--its spirit and word. Good job!

    With thanks,
