If you had said that he wasn't the best weightlifter I wouldn't have disagreed, but since you said he wasn't all that strong I feel I have to object. In terms of sheer strength few (if any) beat him, especially in the squat. His 457,5lbs squat still stands as a world record in IPF. (Both Malanichev and Siders have squatted more now but not for different reasons they don't count as world records.) This is with gear far weaker than what's used today.
Not only was Shane one of the strongest men I ever met, he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I had the pleasure of meeting him at John Inzers "greatest bench press in america contest" I only met him once, but I never forgot it, he made that good of an impression. He, like me, was 100% drug free. Nobody should have anything negative to say about this guy, if you do, your jealous, or just stupid, and obviously you never met him!
ten years ago i would have agreeded a powerlifter could beat a mma fighter i played college football and wrestled i benched about 500 squated over 650 powercleaned475 deadlifted 700 at 278 pounds i started taking jujitsu 5 years ago for the first 6 months 165 pound guys where treating me like a bitch now im 220 not as strong but i would destroy the old me
it's a shame all these pictures are out of focus, Mr. Hamman is actually a very cute guy!
