i am considering buying a grand prix gxp... 5.3l i was just glancing at youtube videos to gather perspective of the potential of the powertrain possibilities... it does have alot tech probs of getting around the dod system, as well as the room issue,, anybody have a good suggestion??? maybe i should say so long to the sedan and paddle shifts and get a nice stepside to get my jollys with

No new numbers yet on this truck with the Turbo kit installed. Our best time last year was 14.8 @94 with a shitty 700R4 that didnt like shifting at 6k, 3k stall, and 3.08 gears. Jeff's 1990 Swap(in our videos) ran a 13.8 @107 with a 5.3, 100 Shot, 3.42's, stock trans and converter.(1999 4l60E)

BTW, what kind of times are you knocking down with your setup and what mods do you have done? Just looking for a comparison to ours. We're getting 13.8@95 out of our '86 shortbed, TH350, 3K stall, 4.10's with posi and custom tuning. 3000FT corrected D/A, track elevation of 1875ft.

Very well said. It's funny, a lot of people consider the 5.3 the bastard child of the LS family, yet they are true performers. In fact, if you're going boosted or any type of power adder, the 5.3's iron block is superior to the LS1's aluminum block, not to mention 5.3's can be found extremely cheap.
