John McCain is a republican who is for gun control. I think would be more likely to sign a gun control bill than Obama because Obama knows if he were to sign it gun advocates would go nuts and would definitely hinder his chances of reelection.

uh, yeah.
when i set up my booth at the gun show and some "private seller" needs to do a background check for joe nobody that wants to buy whatever gun he's selling comes over to my booth to ask me to call in an instant check for him...
because he doesn't have a FFL...
doesn't have an instant check account...
doesn't know the phone # to TICS...
doesn't have a pad of 4473's...
doesn't have any fingerprint cards...
basically doesn't know ANY of the the process..
his sale will "NOT PROCEED"

Maybe not, but his non-advocacy of fundamental liberties certainly
disenfranchised the right wing. His supporters could never be more than lukewarm.

Yeah, I didn't vote for EITHER candidate. Now I'm glad I didn't.
For someone who fought in a war, he should be more protective of our rights.

IMHO just because these guns aren't fully automatic doesn't mean they're much less dangerous.
I've shot both ak-47's and ar-15's (ar-15's are beautiful guns btw) and although they weren't fully auto you could still shoot as fast as you could pull the trigger.
I'm not anti-gun, but I think there should be background checks etc. My friend (he can't read..like 2nd grade reading level) and the gun store owner had to fill out the background check form for him so that he could buy an AK-47

I am a life long Republican. There is a reason you got defeated.
I hope we have learned as a party there is no such thing as a "moderate" candidate on the gun control issue.
