My maternal Grandmother was a superb traditional Irish Musician and fine instruments like this one were essential.
I have some fond memories of huge gatherings and a Celtic party is like no other on earth.
This one sounds great with the headphones on!

Hi Diarmaid,
Just wondering if the skin on this drum is lambeg style like Seamus or other?
it has such a great bending tone to it.
Other lambeg skins I've head are hard and clicky sounding...this has some warmth....but a ton of pitch bending potential.
the SoK in Abe Doran's videos has a similar sound

hi Kip...yeah its a lambeg skin...i ask da to pick me out the thinnest ones as they're most flexible...the slightly thicker ones tend to sound thuddier...i use the tip of my left thumb sometimes for extra leverage with the pitch bending..i remember Abe Doran's drum...it has a similar thin skin.
