Madagascar Event's modest beginnings started as a bunch of neighborhood teenage rascals deciding to form a garage band. Henry Sherrard (Hank) founder of Sounds Unlimited discovered these kids and nurtured them into one of Guam's best rock band of the 80's. Further nurtured by Paul Shimizu founder of Shimbro's Music, the band played many local concerts, clubs, traveled, played back to back with City Kids (aka Tesla) eventually openning for Elvin Bishop. Sounds Unlimited and Shimbros are now large production and promotion outfits on Guam and in the Pacific providing sound reinforcement for the best acts the world has to offer.
Madagascar split in 1983 as each member independently moved ahead with their lives, careers and college. Each member over the years allowed music to be a large part of their soul. Madagascar regrouped for a short stint in 2007 and played Friday's at Shooters located in Guam's Capital. Unlike the early years where many hours of polishing and practice refined the band's musical craft; careers, family and schedules required each member to learn each songs on their own performing each piece live. Special thanks goes to Mark, Pete and Shooter Ric for making the impossible possible. Hope you enjoyed the music Madagascar has shared with you all! The band's utmost appreciation extends to Hank!!!!
