Vox Humana by Daniel Amos, released 1984.
Vox Humana was the 3rd chapter of a four part series of albums by DA entitled The ¡Alarma! Chronicles, which also included the albums ¡Alarma!, Doppelgänger, and Fearful Symmetry.
Vox Humana was a much brighter album than its predecessor, Doppelgänger, and included catchy, synthesizer-driven pop songs with lyrics about technology's role in American culture.
I finally pinpointed the reason that I like this song so much... it's the DEVO vibe! I've noticed, over the years, that DA was a master at emulating all sorts of popular music styles and adding their signature lyrics to their own unique arrangements of those styles. Other "parallels" are "The Double" (David Bowie), "Posse in the Sky" (Eagles), "Father's Arms" (Steely Dan), etc. Seems like they have an album for any mood or occasion! Great stuff!
