In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

For everyone saying "this doesn't look like star trek"... what IS Star Trek?

Honestly, up until Abrams revived it, it was a DEAD FRANCHISE!

THIS IS A M-O-V-I-E! A "movie" MUST have CONFLICT! Roddenberry's Utopian, conflict-free vision may've worked for TV back in the day, but not now.

Remember: Roddenberry was about the HUMAN FACTOR! And a huge event like the one in this flick will showcase humanity at it's best and worst. SOME things just don't change in 300 years. Give the movie a chance!

There's a new Trek pilot being pitched to Paramount soon. It will star several Trek actors: Walter Koenig, Tim Russ, and Robert Picardo.

Trek simply works best as a periodical on television, since that allows for the time needed to develop characters that a feature film does not.

TNG movies hinted (via B4 singing that song Data sang at the wedding) that B4 had the potential to grow due to the memory download Data gave him; and w/ deleted scenes, I think it was an okay closure to the TNG era.

    .

And, yea, Star Trek, at it's core, wasn't only about a positive outlook on the future (even w/ a few wars b4 getting there), twas also about COMMENTING on the human condition of the current time, which JJ's Trek did not.

Kinda sad when TRANSFORMERS has more moral themes than Trek

Of course thats true, they kinda left us hanging after data died in the last movie...

But was it nessacery to replace ALL the moral standings with violence? not saying that this movie will not have then, but judgeing from the last movie (Which was entirely violence without any appearent meaning, and if it did have meaning it was to say Cpt kirk is a violence-prone brat) Then i am hopefull that this next movie with this new "Section 31 villian" has as much to say as the episodes with Sloan had.
