Like you say, right tool for the right job. I could paddle far more than twenty miles in rough seas and catch fish in my sit in sea kayak. It's not the paddling out through the surf, it's the clumsy sit on top paddlers who capsize coming back in to the shore letting their heavy tubs plough through the people in the shallows, giving kayakers a bad name.
