walking over hospital floor with first prosthetic leg

I thought walking with a prostheitc leg wouldn't be a problem for me - i had seen other people walking with two prosthetic legs - so I would manage this easily... bit i found out that it's pretty difficult ! Walking with my above knee artificial leg on this floor was like walking on a wobbly surfboard for the first time... this little movie was taken when I learned how to handle this knee mechanism better an better - a lot of rounds over hospital floor

What was the reason for your amputation?

I had a climbing accident in 2005 and injuries got worde over the time, sort of infection etc. So I choose the amputation as the best way to recreation...

I will try it when my stump got enough power again... try to get a expensive prosthetic sports leg from my insurance - hope to be on top this summer ;-)

I've been wearing an above the knee prosthetic for 10 years.I started hopping around the house without crunches 3 months after I was hit by a car.After a while it will be easy walking with your leg.Excerising on a regular basis will help the most.Once you get your confidence level up,there's nothing you can't do.Stay positive,motivated,and challenge yourself to succeed in this life.
