Apple introduces Newton - London - November 1992

While I was the art editor of a magazine at EMAP business publications, I heard about a press event. It was announcing Newton. As I was a designer, not an editor back then, I edited the footage in the camera. I did the edits live as I shot. What you see is all that I shot. That means a good amount of what was being said is cut off. I was going for feel. However, you'll see the Newton in action a few months before the hardware was made available.

@ORUPRANKSTAZ That's a misconception, the perils of HR as you put it. At its infancy, the Newt was a bit buggy, but it was the trail blazer. By the late 90's, HR was near perfect, but the media and tech world didnt really report that. Thats the risk of early trailblazing technologies. The faults will be over blown.

Apple is STILL run by traditional businessmen! Remove Steve Jobs and then you'll see all those traditional businessmen try to do what jobs does on stage, in Apple product interviews and videos and they dont have that something. So, under the smooth gloss of marketing hip-image Apple has, its nothing more than a big corporation.

Apple run by traditional businessmen, more concerned with the bottom line. Seriously. I'm working towards an MBA in marketing.. I can say that.

However, I still have a MessagePad 130 and it's great! Too bad the idea was way ahead of the technology.. we all know the perils of handwriting recognition that is Newton.
