  • Hey awesome vid, thanks for posting it!! i was just wondering what the dimensions were for your board and haw much flex you put on the rocker table thanks

  • @blairpaterson - board is a 136x43. I just measured it at about 35mm of rocker. That is measured from the rocker table at the centreline, so that the concave does not affect the rocker measurement since my concave is the same thickness of spacer along the centreline over the full length of te board. There's no flat in the rocker line, but there is a touch more curvature at the ends than in the middle

  • Great vid. I wanna make a split board for traveling. I am thinking of an overlapping center design. I wonder how hard that would be to change with your design... Do you have any thoughts on split baords

  • @krist324 - never given much thought to split boards. If I was going to do it though, I think I'd maybe try to vacuum bag it as 2 pices. Do one end and wrap the grass back into the join surface, then with a layer of the vinyl between, do the other half and over lap this part. Then glass the top, maybe in one go with something to separate the 2. Not sure though, sounds tricky......

  • I get my Corecell frm Noah's Marine in Toronto. They get 2 foot by 4 foot offcuts from the factory, and they're around $20. They didn't have any 1/2" left, so this board was done with 3/8". It's way cheaper than buying a 4x8 sheet, but you do have to cut and glue to make it the right shape. Divinicell, Klegecell and any other simlar foams work. There's wood options too, but I haven't used any wood before.

  • good clean workmanship! I like the logo you designed man... great job and hats off!

Although yellow is not my color...

How does the surface (epoxy? I cant recall if you specified) feel compared to a factory kite or wake board?

I am waiting for a membership approval at boardbuilding yahoo group and for my carbon fiber to come in the mail then I will be nearly replicating your process. Cheers!

  • @HypersapienQ The Yahoo group used to be really active but seems to be dying off. The Board Building section in Kiteforum is a bit more active. Yellow - easy to spot when you lose your board! Yes the surface is just epoxy. If done well it feels really smooth, but if you look really close its not perfect.

Carbon looks sweet but it is very stiff. You'll want a thin core if you still want flex. Not a lot of guys are building with carbon. Be sure to ask around before you spent the bucks

  • Dude.. i got 1 question. how do u know, where are the screw holes after glassing? how do u see it? cuz im makin a board like u, but im afraid i will drill to the wrong place.

  • shhuuweeeeettt, i've decided to build one now! Does a logo have to be on rice paper? and cos i'll be sticking the whole thing into a vacuum bag, rather then on plexiglass, would i just put my logo on the outside layer of fibreglass and wet it out onto the bottom of the board and then put the whole thing in the vacuum bag?

  • :-) nice design dude! love it!

  • Very nice instruction videos with a great result. I was thinking of attempting this project to save money vs. buying a board retail, but I just about pooped myself when I saw the price of the corecell. Any cheaper alternatives?
