  • They talk about the veil of the temple being torn in two and of that signifying the gap between God and man being bridged. So why do you need to go to temples to be in God's presence? "Worthiness" was done away with in the Incarnation and the rending of the temple veil. Jesus, God made man, made himself completely available to the least "worthy" during his life, and the veil which only the most worthy could pass through was rent in two. So why do only "worthy" people get to enter the temple?

  • For probably a similar reason why you believe that only Catholics can participate in communion. You believe that certain preparation (e.g., baptism) is required to participate.

We also believe that certain preparation is required to participate in the temple ordinances.

Certainly no one has to be perfect to enter the temple, rather striving to live the commandments.

  • That doesn't mesh with the context of Jesus' saving ministry, death & resurrection.

For Catholics it's not preparation that's important, it's that you believe in it. Still, anyone who wants to can attend a mass & doesn't have to leave at communion, & even if you're not Catholic, no one can stop you from receiving the Eucharist if you go up to receive. The lds church won't let anyone watch the ceremonies in the temple, go into the rooms after the dedication, or even see a script of the ceremony.

  • Well, for Mormons, preparation is important.

And like Catholics, it is important "that you believe in it."

  • oh, i guess you just can't take feedback. just disable comments like all the bigots do.

  • I haven't disabled any comments.(though it always is tempting when there are repeated illogical statements...).

  • @carlasue88 BUT anyone CAN still accept the sacrament. Your comparison is not equal. A better comparison would be, when was the last time the Catholic church showed the anointing of a priest when he was conferred his orders? There is always an announcement afterward, but it is not a public performance. It is VERY private actually. Or for that manner, an anointing of a Pope. There IS an actual ceremony. But who saw it on TV? No one. Everyone in teh LDS church is a priest, a dedicated holy servant

  • @awolLDSasap look for it

  • im just christian

    is that good enough?

  • aloha, i am not an lds member, but I am sadden that people continue to disrespect their belief, though we do not worship in the same manner, i hope we maybe able to respect their beliefs, if we can respect the ones we can see, i am assured we can respect the one whom we cannot see, much love and peace to all the children of GOD.

  • Where's the evidence that Adam was the first man? That a man can live inside a large fish for several days? That someone can fit all animals on a boat? If I were to base my reasoning on a belief on the Bible based on the way you base your's on the BOM then I would have doubts as well. You must ask yourself why you hold a double standard between the LDS faith and yours.

  • The text comments on this thread are not as vitriolic as usual. They started out nasty, and crazy, but have improved!

Let's all celebrate this as a small victory!

  • If you don't believe in our teachings. Why would you want to go into our temples.
