A cover of a cover! Not perfect, but hey, it's all just a bit of fun!

Manito New Orleans into a Boss ME-70 (the loop station is built-in there), recorded with Logic Pro 8 and iMovie 08.

  • which parts are being overdubbed exactly? i've never been able to figure out which parts are just played and which are recorded... please help!

  • @JimminiPage Ok, I'll try to help as best I can! The single note things at the start should be simple enough: they are both looped, one after the other. So those 2 things are saved. Then it's just improvisations which are NOT recorded, until you come to the bit at 1:08 in my video. I recorded the first phrase (after just playing it a few times), played the second harmony starting just before 1:25 and then recorded the third harmony starting at 1:32. John actually records all 3 in his video.

  • This is beautiful!!

PLEASE ANSWER what amp are u using o its a simulated one on the software?

and u only using boss for the loop or u have any effect on ? Thanks.

  • @94PedroAlves Thanks for the lovely comment! I recorded this video a while ago but I believe I was just running the Boss ME-70 straight into my Mac. I do have amp simulation programs such as Guitar Rig 3 but in this case I just used the pre-amps in the ME-70. I've stopped using amp simulators now anyway since they don't sound as good as miking up a good amp.

And yes the Boss pedal can be used as a looper with effects at the same time. So I use a bit of overdrive and chorus/delay I think :)

  • @mooneymusic hey thanks bro one final question the bluesoverdrive and

wah wah soung good or the sound is to much plastic?

  • @94PedroAlves The blues overdrive is by far the best overdrive on the pedal actually, it sounds great through a good amp! And yeah the wah wah is great too, you have a foot-controller which you can use for that. I'd say the only poor sounds on the Boss ME-70 are the metal distortions but the fact that you came onto a John Mayer/Justin Timberlake cover suggests that you wouldn't want to play that stuff anyway haha! :)

  • this dude's tone is sick (in a good way)

  • Nice Feeling and playing. The tone is awsome too, keep playing with an amp rather than using simulators!
