A couple people asked me to put this up so here ya go! This is the proposal scene and part of it was deleted from the finalized movie. Enjoy!

Daniela Denby-Ashe is so beautiful. Not only is she beautiful, she is a GREAT actress! I believed every second of her in this movie. I would love to see more of her. I would love to see more of them both, actually. What other good movies are they in? (Not together, just either/or).

@AugustineEmmeline I am not sure what Daniela is up to right now but she was in a show in the UK for many years called "My Family" and it just recently went off the air. Richard was in a TV show called Robin Hood for 3 years, then he did Spooks (known as MI5 here in the USA) for 3 seasons, right now he has a part in the new Captain America movie, and he is currently filming "The Hobbit" where he will be playing Thorin Oakenshield who is the leader of the dwarves! He has made it to Hollywood!

Okay this is the first time I've encountered this and I'm not quite sure on a couple of things: 1) Is this a movie or a series 2) Whichever one that it may be, is it posted on youtube?

@DistressedDamsel79 It is a miniseries and I think it is posted on YT. Search "North and South episode 1" and it will probably come up.

@HeathDances It's currently on Netflix. Being a BBC drama, it's likely also something you can reserve at your local public library. It's really excellent. I have taken to having it on periodically when I'm working at my computer. I get something new out of it with each repetition.

this is should get more views. This is a great proposal scene. I love it. I agree with both of them. I agree with margarett's refusal and his anger. Wrong time to be proposing to her you sexxxyyy beautiful man you. and How dare you Margarett deny your feelings because he's a tradesman? oh you crazy kids.

he is such a good actor. when i first saw this, i was in tears. i felt SO BAD for poor thornton.

i don't really think she's that great of an actress, but it was still a great miniseries...he acted enough for the both of them.

@ldans001 i don't think he wanted to possess her, i think he really did love her...but they had extremely different views, and obviously at that point in time it was a mistake for him to propose...

I now understand why she rejected him. he could care less about what her thoughts were about the issue, he did want to posses her. you can hear it in his voice and manner. he didn't even care to let her finish talking about what she though could be done, he did not respect her ideas. i would of rejected him to, even though he is nice to look act.

I like this scene because it explains why later, Thornton sent fruit to Mrs. Hale.

I just love the fact, that he's about to take her in his arms, when he cries out: "I don't want to possess you, I wish to marry you, because I love you"

You can almost feel his need for her. Heartbreaking...
