Supersafe with Superted, At Long Last

This file has needed to be uploaded to YouTube for a very long time. In fact, this may be the actual reason that YouTube exists.

From nineteen eighty-humbra hum, a PIF recognised by just about every Briton who was a child from the late eighties to...in fact as far as I know it's still in circulation in Wales maybe.

Despite the film's ubiquity it's been hard to find on the Internet, so here: enjoy Wales' finest superhero (he beats Y Ddraig Goch from Zenith by virtue of never becoming fat and alcoholic and dead) driving all the way to Earth - Cardiff in fact - just to nag Spotty, who was never this stupid in the series. With the voices of Lord Derek Griffiths, the india-rubber adopted Welshman whose squeakiness in the role I never before appreciated, and the great Jon Pertwee as Spotty. Reports suggest that Blotch, who was voiced by Sheila Staefel in the series, is here played by none other than Wendy Padbury, by then an agent with virtually every other Doctor Who companion on the books. You can pretend this is some insane crossover if you close your eyes.

Anyway, all rise and pay tribute to Supersafe With A Welsh Bear In A Cape.

This was a good way to teach the kids about road safety I certainly remember this.

Isn't there a longer version of this? I remember an extended version which had more time on Planet Spot, with Blotch telling Spotty off for not watching the road. Superted then tells Spotty to look for a Zebra Crossing, to which Spotty rejects as "zebra crossings have stripes".

Wow, I actually remember seeing this in infant school circa 1987! Thanks for posting! It makes perfect sense that Spotty's female companion is called Blotch - you can have blotches on your skin too!
