Music by Mitch Leigh
Lyrics by Joe Darion
Sung by Men's Chorus

Lyrics:

Little bird, little bird
In the cinnamon tree
Little bird, little bird
Do you sing for me?
Do you bring me word
Of one I know?
Little bird, little bird
I love her so
Little bird, little bird
I have to know
Little bird, little bird

Beneath this tree
This cinnamon tree
We learned to love
We learned to cry
For here we met
And here we kissed
And here one cold and moonless night
We said goodbye

Little bird, little bird
Oh have pity on me
Bring her back to me now
'Neath the cinnamon tree
I have waited too long
Without a song
Little bird, little bird
Please fly, please go
little bird, little bird
And tell her so
Little bird, little bird
Little bird, little bird, little bird

(I spit on all your little birds!)

The dubbing is hungarian.

  • This is a pretty yet creepy song. But I love it =]

"Little Bird, Little Bird, do you sing for me??"

  • When she said "I spit on all your little birds!" in hungarian, I cracked up!

  • @MontalbanOnDenny that's because it wasn't in the book. Most of this play was made up with the book as something to jump off of.

  • @ehassertt It does not sound like you read the book...

Aldonza was Dulcinea's true identity, not don Quijote's image of her.

  • @ehassertt ...... There was an Aldonza in the book.....

  • @MontalbanOnDenny There was no Aldonza in the book.

  • what scene is this? i cant remember it from the book

  • @tarrera2005 ---maybe the spoken words were dubbed

  • How come she says "szarok az összes madaratokra" in the end??!! Everybody is Hungarian? :-)

  • @PittsBurghFuzz I agree 100%, the original recording was much better than the movie in many ways. I wish someone would post the whole original recording!

  • I prefer the original broadway cast recording version
