  • Just going by the Navy Divers show, they had a 100% pass mark and nobody failed..... It seems the attrition rates are virtually non-exist now due to the fact they are probably short in numbers in the Navy. Most people who get weeded out leave on their own accord or fail the dive medical/chamber etc.

  • The attrition rates seen is for the initial selection, which is the first episode of the show. The rest of the series is about those who have passed it, and gone on to complete the training.

  • Why do these MCD's have guns and stuff? Or is this an Australian thing. I'm planning on joining up for the (british) Royal Navy as a MCD

  • The clearance divers in Australia not only dispose ordnances, but also do clandestine and maritime tactical operations. While they don't come under Special Forces command, they are a little niche and are good at what they do. The selection is rigorous, and some members go on to SAS.

  • I don't know how it is for the Aussies but when I was on the Cadet Exchange I met 2 British SAS officers: a captain and a Major. You could tell they were SAS because of their Uniform, and we had a friendly chat after the Friday Night Parade at 8th and I Marine Barracks Washington which was awesome. But they didn't tell us their names, nor did we ask, and they declined to take photos because they were SF (stupid friend asked even though the answer was obvious).

  • @prod929292

  • @ASAairsoftAustralia Keep your options open, do chem, if you do it until yr 12 then decide a career in that field not for you, the navy will be waiting.
