This is the opening for the second season of the Anime Clannad called Clannad -After Story-, it uses the same melody as Onaji Takami e (To the Same Heights) that is in the Clannad Original Soundtrack 2.

Key that is under Visual Art's made the original Visual Novel and the Anime was made by Kyoto Animation.

By the way, the video is maybe out of sync by some 30 ms, if it happened for real then it happened during upload and processing not while coding.

This video is best viewed with stereo headphones on, 420p quality and a small Youtube video screen.

The song is called: "Toki wo Kizamu Uta".
Singer: "Lia"
Video Length: 01:30 min

Watch it in High Quality (old code): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvyXVFNzvag&fmt=18

NOTE: For the curious ones here is what this video is made of.
XVID, H.263 Multipass 1st and 2nd pass, converted to flv with a bitrate of 3000 and uploaded with 640x480 resolution.
The sound is converted from AC3 160 kbps to Mp3 160 kbps CBR Stereo and when converted to flv it was converted to Mp3 128 kbps Stereo.
It is 10 min long because the bitrate makes the video at start looking very good and while going to the end the image looks worse and worse, so the rest is black screen so it evens out the bitrate meaning that the start is longer and therefore the best quality remains even while Youtube processes it, it can't really be seen until uploaded to Youtube. If you want to test it out, upload 1 high quality picture with a longer video and you would see the quality of it become worse and worse while the video lasts more, usually 10 second is enough for a minimum effect to see.

If you are watching the High Quality version please let the video download till the end before playing it (&fmt=18).
If you are watching the High Definition version please download the video till the end and always watch it in full screen so that it becomes faster (&fmt=22).

HD Tips: You can go into "Task Manager" go to process tab and set there the priority of your browser to more by right clicking its executable and selecting the "Set Priority" and clicking on the "Above Normal" option in it, this will certainly make your HD video a little faster, don't forget to bring it back in the same way after watching your video.
The minimum for HD on youtube is 128Mb Graphic and 2Ghz CPU (Will always lag but the videos are watchable especially after setting its priority in task manager), Recommended is 256Mb Graphic and 3Ghz CPU (If it lags a bit you can set the process priority in task manager to more and it shouldn't lag).

DISCLAIMER: I do not own this video, music nor anything related to it, it belongs to the author and the company that it is licensed by.

This video is uploaded on the sole purpose to encourage the continuing popularity of Japanese Animation.

  • i regret watching this anime. watching is like having a very close friend who you spent all ur time with, die. you really get attached to the characters. when they killed off nagisa it was so painful. this is not the problem. the problem is they spend 5 more episodes to savor the sadness, then crap out a divine intervention happy ending. gave me the jitters the day after i went back to work.

it had SO much potential to be one of the best animes, but they had to fck up the ending..

  • @bearruler From the begining it led to this, they just didn't show it that much but hinted it, it was made by the visual novel story. Those glitters are the main point of it actually. ^^

  • Key has yet to make an anime that DOESN'T involve some sort of fantasy element to it. If you didn't expect the Orbs of Happiness to play any major part in the story, then you fail. Horribly.

  • @muumisoitin to right mate

  • @bearruler

    NO I GOT SPOILED!

  • @cutepets1012 its to savior the sadness! Like a silent gravestone.. only visual.. anyway! Its to remind us how easy something wonderful and splendid like a certain Clannad-character can end, and that this 'eternal end' is painfully silent compared to the flow of life which happened before. Its our memories which are the only lead in this darkness of an end, which wants us to replay this lively song asap

This is my take why the hell there are 8:30min of nothingness after it!

  • @bearruler i liked the happy ending.. if it didnt end well... id still be a wreck. lol

  • I think the anime would've been better if they'd left Nagisa dead, but kept Ushio alive..... Nagisa was one of my favorite characters, so it's not like I WANT her dead.... but I think the series would've made more sense... ish..

  • love the anime, love the opening. but why the hell are there 8:30 min of nothingness after it?????

  • I love the piano in this!!!

  • The song better in the animae

  • @bearruler I think you're missing the multidimensional aspect. And I believe the happy ending is there for us. There is a trend to make stories more "real" which means no happy ending. Either characters die or the goal is not reached. But Clannad gives us both. It rips our hearts out and makes us cry "Not this, not this, why/how would you do that to him? But in the end it shows us the multiple dimensions, that maybe he experienced so much pain in order to appreciate everything .
