I never thought I'd come across a concept album that I'd come to love as much as Pink Floyd's "The Wall", but I stand corrected. Pink Floyd and The Decemberists are two completely different bands, in both lyrics and sound, but there is one thing they both share in excellency: they're damn good storytellers. These guys have made the classics in my book.

What a lovely album and concept. Truly beautiful.

@AEM123456 I believe that a true fan will support the band and encourage them to evolve further and explore the depths of their unique musical talent. I believe that only a whiny, hipster indie kid will jump ship due to one of the most mind-blowing concept albums of our time simply because it's released by a mainstream label. (Not that I have a problem with whiny, hipster indie kids. :)
Thematically, lyrically, and musically, this record is a natural fit for The Decemberists. Pipe down.

My English teacher played this entire album from start to finish in class... our job is to analyze it. Really glad he had us do it. This is one of my favorite albums now :)

This isn't so much a concept album as one massive, fantastic and beatiful story. It's like a kids bedtime tale but for adults. I think it's amazing. The album is the most complete and cohesive piece of music I've heard in ages. Hazards of Love is fantastic. What a great story.
