Lifestyle photographer Wong Kin Leong ventures into Little India, Singapore and spends a day photographing the place. A heritage and tourism site of Singapore, Little India bursts to life on weekends. And a bustling shopping haven and treasure trove of culture, sights and colors greets all.

During weekends, Singaporeans goes to Little India to shop, get groceries, meet their friends, and this video begins in the afternoon heat. As the day passes, you get to see the community interacting, living and going about their business. Architecture of Little India comprises mainly of shophouses 2 story tall, of Arabian and Renaissance-styled, one way roads that webs the community together, with Serangoon Road being the main thoroughfare through the area.

As night falls, the streets takes on night colors, neon street signs, vendors parading their wares and all sorts of advertisements contributing to the color scheme. And the place is a hive of activity and the packed excitement of the area pours onto the streets as the area crowds with all walks of life.

Little India is the focal point of all Indians in Singapore, being their historical landmark, developed by their forefathers that settled in Singapore back in 1819. Famed for its strong scents of spices sold by roadside stalls, its silverware, brassware, wood carvings and silk saris adorned by ladies are a prized item of tourists.

Little India not only has something for the Indian community, it has something for everyone, even co-existing with temples, churches and mosques and even to a large backpacker community checking into their hostels within the area.
