EDIT: 1,000 views, sweet! I realize that's not a lot of views for a Youtube video, but I'm pretty psyched about it.

EDIT 2: OH MY LORD 10,000 views! Thanks to everyone who liked this track!

This is a mix of Johnny Cash's rendition of the old folk tune "God's Gonna Cut You Down" (a.k.a. "Run On"), from his posthumous album American V. Mos Def's vocals, as well as the scratches, are courtesy of the acapella to Mathematics, off of Black On Both Sides. Both are truly excellent albums in their respective genres; you'd be doing yourself a huge favor to pick them both up.

The drum track is a pitched down and spliced sample of The Assembly Line by The Commodores.

  • Another bigger messin up a good song

  • @WARXDEVILXALAN Lol, "bigger"? Shit man, you even suck at racism.

  • @DJRozwell Lol, "racism"? Shit man, you even suck at understanding English, "bigger" doesn't imply racism at all, just means its another awful remix of a good song

  • @COMMIESsuck101 He tried to call me a "nigger" because I mixed country with rap, but hit the B on the keyboard instead of the N. Song-wise, you're entitled to your own opinion, though.

  • this is shit

  • @wallacewt Then make a better remix.

  • Love this shit

  • I thought this was a great remix. The lyrics intertwined really well, and Mos Def was a good choice.

I think Johnny Cash himself would have liked this.

  • @wallacewt ,Who would u sugest, weezy faggot ass?

  • Nah, this isnt right. Something as powerful as cash's God's gonna cut you down mixed in with anything that isn't explicitly and intrinsically tied together lyrically driving the same message is purely diluting the impact of one of Cash's greatest songs. You need to find something that can stand side by side, the mos def album may be great but when it cuts away it just feels watered down. The impact and intensity isn't there. Mind, not many can stand and be counted as equal to the late great cash

  • it is good depending on your style but next time becarefull mixing legendary songs like that you can piss off a lot of people in a hurry. good mixing!

  • Two of my favourite songs, two great artists, great beats; put it together and you get a good mix. People shouldn't complain about messing up a good song; this version adds a different dimension to the song and the song isn't a Johnny Cash original anyway. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

  • In 2:39 i like how johnny cash kinda sounds he's rapping

  • ya done good - I like this
