Organist James Lynn Culp performs Karg-Elert's "Ach bleib mit deiner Gnade" on the landmark 1949 Aeolian-Skinner, Opus 1173, at First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore, Texas. This organ was designed and tonally finished by Roy Perry, who was organist at the church for over 40 years, and is one of the rare G. Donald Harrison "signature" Aeolian-Skinners. James Lynn Culp has been organist at First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore, for over 25 years. This track was recording for the 1982 LP "In Memoriam: Roy Perry," and is currently available commercially on the 4 CD set, "The Aeolian-Skinner Legacy, Volume IV: First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore, Texas," which also features performances by Dora Poteet Barclay, Roy Perry, William Teague, William Watkins, and others, available from www.vermontorganacademy.com

  • I remember when Jimmy came to work at St. Luke's Methodist way back when; he was awesome then and he's awesome now.

  • Oh I love Jimmy, and especially the organ at 1st Presby. sang there in the choir and really miss all. That is a wonderfull instrument there in Kilgore. I go back every now and then and join the choir, but not enough. Love the music, thanks for posting this.
